Here’s an expanded version:
The two Danish shows were not only a celebration of Sweet’s enduring catalogue of classic hits but also a reminder of the lasting friendships and connections that the band’s music has created over the past five decades. From longtime fans reconnecting after half a century to fellow musicians sharing stories from rock’s glory days, the Ringsted and Herning concerts became much more than just performances—they became a celebration of Sweet’s remarkable legacy and the people who have been part of the journey.
Sweet returned to Denmark for two memorable performances on May 22nd and 23rd, playing to enthusiastic audiences in Ringsted and Herning. Joining them on both dates were rising Danish hard glam rockers Animalyze, who delivered energetic support sets and helped create a fantastic atmosphere for the evenings.
The visit also provided an opportunity for the band to catch up with former Slade drummer Don Powell, who now lives in the area. The meeting brought together old friends from the golden era of British glam rock and sparked many fond memories from decades on the road.
One of the most touching moments of the trip came during a special fan reunion. Danish fan Helle was reunited with the band exactly 50 years after first meeting them in the mid-1970s at the height of Sweet’s international success. The emotional reunion took place in Ringsted, where old photographs, autographs, and memories were shared, highlighting the unique bond that has existed between Sweet and their loyal fans across generations.
